A relief that testing is over. The children did a great job with test taking and self-control.

Our homework this week can come in any time the children finish it. Our spelling is a review

of selected words from the last five spelling lessons. Next week is spirit week and the activities were outlined in the Link. Monday starts out with crazy hair day.

Today is the 100th day of school. There are several fun activities planned to go along with this day. Please take the time to ask your child what he/she did today.

Please remember to turn in your re-enrollment form this week if you haven't already done so.

BOOK REPORTS on a famous person will begin soon.

Dear Parents:

Our next book report due will be a brown bag book report. I will demonstrate one to the class and keep it in the classroom if a parent needs to see it. Details will be coming out in my newsletter. Now would be a good time to find a book your child would like to report on. This will give them plenty of time to read a chapter book or at least a book that is challenging but interesting to them. The book report will be due the week we get back from our Christmas break.

Dear Parents:

Because our field trip to Buckelew Farms had to be canceled, the second grade teachers would like to do a special Halloween schedule during the afternoon of the 31st. We would like to end the day with a party so if any family would like to contribute a "goody"...it can even be healthy - like fruit or vegetables - it would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Parents:

Due to illness, I did not get Monday folders home last week. Therefore, a large number of papers came home in this Monday's folder. Please check for "correct and returns" and "look overs". With 28 children in the class I can't always go over every paper I would like to with each child, so I really appreciate when you parents take the time to do this.

Our first book report will be due in approximately two weeks. This will be a reading grade so please see that the book report is made on a book compatible with your child's ability. The book is free choice this month. Thank you for all you do! Mrs. Tate

Dear New Second Grade Parents:

It is amazing how fast the summer can fly by!!! Our revised second grade supply list is ready to be picked up at the front desk. A reminder that it won't be long before Target gets a school supply section set up and most of the items we have requested can be found there at a nice discounted price. Thank you for getting these items - you can be assured we use every single product on this list and really appreciate your generosity.... Hope your summer is going well and a second reminder that summer reading is so important in helping your little ones get ready for second grade!

Dear Parents: May 9, 2011

FIELD TRIP UPDATE: Tuesday we will be visiting the Flandrau Planetarium as well as the rock and mineral display on the UofA campus. This will be an exciting conclusion to our unit on space and and introduction to our unit on rocks and minerals. We will be leaving school at 9:45 and returning later in the afternoon. Please pack a lunch as we will be heading to Reid Park after we leave the planetarium.
